How is Michelangelo a genius?

i know that Michelangelo was a sculptor, architect, amateur poet, and a painter of the Italian Renassaince, but i dont understand why he's a genius. i know he has some characteristics of a genius like never giving up on his dream even when his own father discouraged of his doings. But what else makes him a genius? Or atleast characteristics of one?
