What bait should I use for dogfish/sandshark?

Ok well here's what I got I'm going to the shore in nj to go for sand sharks and dogfish. I have a cast net which I'm planning to catch bait fish with is that good for sand sharks? I can't really go to a bait shop ps I have to work with what I have
