Would a pregnancy test be accurate now?

I have some what irregular periods. I am ttc again. So I have been using ovulation predictors well my last period came on April 16 and normally a 26 day cycle but like I say sometimes it is irregular. I got a positive on the opk on may2nd before the positive I had sex and on may 2nd and after. My time for my period if it were to come on time would have came on this past thurSday on the 12th well it did not come I start getting brown stretchy discharge though later that night but no blood and that has gone on hasn't been heavy or nothing but the brown discharge is still here but it getting lighter like it's about to stop. I have not had my normal cramps nor any blood. Would it still be to early to test on a pregnancy test? When should I test? My mother said that she got this at the time of her period when she first found out she was pregnant. So I'm not sure.
